The Riverfront Theater, a new tented venue on Chicago's Near North Side in which Tribune Company is a full producing partner, has nixed its previously announced presentations of "Spirit of the Dance," "Rocket Man" and "Man in the Mirror," citing scheduling conflicts. Only "Spirit" had actually been selling tickets; refunds are available at the point of purchase.
The planned engagement of the well-regarded European circus "La Soiree" remains; that show will have its U.S. premiere at the venue, located at 650 W. Chicago Ave, on July 18.
The circus, aimed mostly at adults and featuring a variety of artists with formidable reputations, will be in town for three weeks.
Producer Robert Butters said that the venue is retooling and is "committed to bringing the very best shows to Chicago's discerning audiences." More information at riverfronttheater.com
