Ron Grossman is a reporter covering the city’s ethnic neighborhoods, among other subjects. His columns vary from social and political commentary to chapters in Chicago history. Before turning to journalism, Grossman was a professor of history at Lake Forest College, Michigan State University, St. Olaf College and the University of Nebraska. He has published a book, “Guide to Chicago Neighborhoods,” and a 1982 map of Chicago’s ethnic neighborhoods. Grossman received a Bachelor of Arts and Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago. He also studied architecture with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Grossman grew up in Albany Park on Chicago’s Northwest side.
