Ronald Lalla has been named executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at OfficeMax. Lalla, who also will serve on the company's executive committee, will have responsibility for all aspects of enterprise-wide merchandising for OfficeMax, including category management, strategic product planning, global sourcing, private label expansion and cost of goods sold initiatives. Lalla has extensive retail merchandising and business-to-business experience, most recently as chief merchandising officer and chief technology officer for Katz Group, one of Canada's leading drug store operators. Before that he was executive vice president, global merchandising, for Corporate Express and held held several leadership positions at Kmart Corp. He has an undergraduate degree in commerce from the University of Manitoba and an MBA from Duke University.
