"The Exonerated"

Exonerated Death Row inmate Gary Gauger (center) and actors Richard Dreyfuss (below) and Mike Farrell applaud Gov. George Ryan during the curtain call for a December 2002 performance of the play "The Exonerated" at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts. Ryan had imposed a moratorium on the death penalty in Illinois in 2000, and on Jan. 11, 2003, just days before leaving office, he commuted the sentences of everyone on or waiting to be sent to Illinois' Death Row.
