A Sauk Village man died Wednesday night, a day after police found him shot on the street in the south suburb, authorities said.
Zonnie Johnson, 20, of the 22400 block of Clyde Avenue in Sauk Village, was declared dead at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Police were called to the area of 216th Street and Jeffery Avenue in the south suburb about 8 p.m. Tuesday following a report of shots fired in the area, said Sauk Village Police Chief Robert Fox. There, police found the victim shot, Fox said.
No one is in custody in the slaying, Fox said today. Fox declined to say what police believe led to the shooting.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is investigating.
