The North Side venue Stage 773 said Thursday that it has created a new comedy festival, "The Women's Funny Festival," set to launch in June at the former Theatre Building Chicago, located at 1225 W. Belmont Ave.

To be curated by Jill Valentine, the festival will feature sketch comedy, stand-up, improv and other forms of comedy. The bill will be dominating by emerging female comedians from Chicago, but also will feature national acts.

Stage 773 said the new festival is intended as a sister festival to the long-running Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, staged at the venue each January. The full roster of acts is to be announced in April.
