Sighting: Stars take in Sting's 'The Last Ship' at Bank of America Theatre

Some celebrities didn’t want to wait for “The Last Ship” to debut on Broadway in the fall to see the Sting-inspired musical.

Singers James Taylor, Paul Simon and Dennis DeYoung all joined Sting at the pre-Broadway opening of “The Last Ship” Wednesday at Bank of America Theatre. Sting – who wrote the music and lyrics for the musical, which is playing in Chicago through July 13 – has been touring with Taylor this year.

Kevin Kline (“Dave”) took in the show Friday while in town for the Chicago International Film Festival’s summer gala at the Four Seasons hotel. Former mayor Richard M. Daley was also on hand for Friday’s show.

Elsewhere in Chicago, singer Jimmy Buffett had lunch at Mity Nice Bar & Grill Wednesday through Friday. Sugarland’s Kristian Bush shopped Thursday at custom clothier Frederick Lynn Haberdasshere in the Near North neighborhood. Indie rockers Arctic Monkeys hung out June 23 at RM Champagne Salon. | Twitter @TribLuis | Facebook @TribLuis | Instagram @TribLuis
