Street, 'L' closures end after suspicious object investigation on South Side

Police and fire crews have completed their work making sure there was no danger from a suspicious object in the Woodlawn neighborhood this afternoon.

Service on the east 63rd Street leg of the CTA Green Line, between Garfield Boulevard and Cottage Grove, resumed about 3:20 p.m. after police and fire crews were called to the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue about 2:15 p.m.

Police Bomb and Arson investigators had cleared the scene by about 3:20 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien. News Affairs had not yet been told what the object was.

The incident was not on CTA property, a CTA spokeswoman said.
