A 17-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded in the Englewood neighborhood this evening, authorities said.

A victim was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital from the 5800 block of South Union Avenue following a shooting just after 6:20 p.m., said Sean Flynn, a Fire Department spokesman.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg at that location, according to Chicago Police News Affairs. Initially, officers reported he was in good condition on the scene, but police did not have information on his condition following his transport to the hospital, said Officer Darryl Baety.
