( Chris Walker, Chicago Tribune ) Built between 1615 and 1630 for Marie de Medici, mother of Louis XIII, this famous Renaissance palace has been the scene of many outstanding events in history. Used as a prison during the French Revolution, it was where Napoleon was crowned Emperor of France in 1804. In 1946 the Paris Peace Conference was held within its walls. |
