Chicago police were conducting homicide investigations after a 19-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening on the South Side and another man died following a West Side stabbing.
About 7 p.m. Sunday, two people approached the 19-year-old in a front yard in the 8400 block of South Martin Luther King Drive in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, police said, and opened fire.
The man was struck multiple times in his chest, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said.
He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 8 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The medical examiner's office identified him as Marcus Turner, of the 6600 block of South Maryland Avenue.
Also on Sunday, a 33-year-old man died of stab wounds he sustained Saturday evening.
Taison Moore, of the 2700 block of West 15th Place, was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.
Moore was stabbed multiple times Saturday after a fight broke out with a person he knew, Purkiss said.
The stabbing happened about 7 p.m. outside of a liquor store in the 4000 block of West Gladys Avenue on the West Side, Purkiss said.
No one was in custody in either incident, police said.
