Some are picketing while others stayed home, the union said, adding that the strike will only be for three days so as not to disrupt patient care.
The strike also includes seven other UIC locations across the state, bringing the total to about 500 employees.
A spokesperson said the hospital is eager to get back to negotiations, though patient care has not been disrupted.
