Grace Groner, who, before her death at the age of 100, created a $7 million foundation for students at Lake Forest College. Groner, a devoted traveler, intended that the foundation be used to help students study overseas. So far, 59 students have received $500 grants to help them travel to countries from England to Botswana. Her gift to the college also included her tiny, antiquated cottage. Students helped to rehab it over the summer, and now it serves as an up-to-date residence for women who have received the scholarship.
