Five shootings left seven people injured overnight, as Chicago's unseasonably warm weekend continued to be a violent one.
The shootings followed an afternoon and evening in which eight people were shot, one fatally. Earlier in the weekend, 15 people were shot, four of them fatally, between 6 p.m. Friday night and Saturday morning.
In one of Saturday night's shootings, two 20-year-old men were hurt about 10:45 p.m. when two gunmen shot into a party in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, police said. A 26-year-old woman was also shot as the shooters fled.
About 2:45 a.m., a 39-year-old man was shot in the head in the 1400 block of West 47th Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition was stabilized.
Earlier, about 1 a.m., a 20-year-old woman was shot in the leg while sitting inside a parked SUV in the 5200 block of West Chicago Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The shooter had apparently been in a dark-colored sedan driving by, Alfaro said, citing preliminary information. The woman was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, Alfaro said.
No suspects were in custody as Area North detectives investigated.
About 10:25 p.m, a 20-year-old man arrived at St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center with a graze wound to the foot. He told police the shooting occurred on the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, but police said that could not be verified.
About 9:11 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the 7300 block of South Artesian Avenue in the Marquette Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side, News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, Alfaro said.
A male shooter had approached as the man was standing on the sidewalk, Alfaro said, citing preliminary information. Police said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.
