Paul Konerko of the Chicago White Sox was named the American League player of the week for hitting .435 (10-for-23) with three home runs and four RBI.
It was the fifth time Konerko has won the award, the last time coming a year ago April.
Konerko sat out Sunday’s game with a stiff neck but should play when the White Sox host Cleveland starting Tuesday night.
It is the second straight honor for the White Sox. Pitcher Philip Humber won the week before after throwing the 21st perfect game in history. Konerko and then teammate Carlos Quentin also won back-to-back honors last April.
