Man dragged by car in East Chatham neighborhood

A man was dragged down the block after being hit by a car in the South Side neighborhood of East Chatham, police said.

A dark sedan struck the man near the intersection of 83rd Street and Ingleside Avenue around 11 p.m. Tuesday and then drove off, police said.

Two officers in a squad car saw the accident and stayed with the man while radioing a description of the car, police said. Officers in the neighboring district found the car in the 8200 block of South Blackstone Avenue, less than a mile away.

Three people were taken into custody from a home near where the car was found, but no charges have been filed.

The victim was is in serious condition at Stroger Hospital, police said.
