A 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the Bronzeville neighborhood during an apparent domestic dispute Sunday night, police said.
Authorities were called about 8:40 p.m. to a home in the 4000 block of South Wabash Avenue on the South Side, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
A man was taken with multiple stab wounds to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was declared dead at 9:28 p.m., authorities said, correcting earlier information that indicated he was declared dead at 8:28 p.m.
The man lived at the address where he was stabbed, according to the medical examiner's office.
The man and his girlfriend were in an argument that escalated into a fight and ended with the man being stabbed in the chest, said News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Police took the girlfriend into custody following the stabbing, but she had not been charged late this morning.
