Police are seeking witnesses to a traffic wreck late last night in McHenry County that claimed the life of a 20-year-old Algonquin woman.
Killed was Megan E. Hartigan, of the 300 block of Fieldcrest Drive, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.
Hartigan was one of four people inside a 2004 Hyundai that was westbound in the 14600 block of Marengo Road in northwest suburban Huntley when the vehicle left the road and went into a ditch before slamming into a culvert and flipping, according to the statement.
All four occupants of the vehicle were ejected.
Hartigan was taken to Centegra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock where she died. An autopsy was scheduled for today.
The others were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Their conditions were not disclosed and their names were being withheld, the statement said.
Investigators do not know who was driving and the crash remains under investigation.
