Nationals 9, Cubs 1: Cubs pitchers served up six home runs Sept. 5 to the Nationals for the second straight night, with Chris Volstad taking another pounding, giving up five homers, including three during a four-batter stretch. The next night, the Cubs and Nats staged a couple of bench-clearing brouhahas, including one after reliever Lendy Castillo threw at Bryce Harper. Cubs pitchers wound up allowing 28 runs in the final three games of the Nationals four-game sweep. Cubs manager Dale Sveum called it men playing against boys.
