A shooting that began with a fight left a 16-year-old boy dead and another teen wounded late Friday in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.
Markell Stribling, of the 11600 block of South Yale Avenue, was shot multiple times in the 11700 block of South La Salle Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
He was pronounced dead at 11:35 p.m. at Roseland Hospital, a medical examiner's spokesman said.
At 10:46 p.m., police responded to a shooting and found a 16-year-old shot in the chest and "unresponsive on the scene," according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines. A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and listed as "stable" at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, he said.
The teens were involved in a fight with another person when their attacker produced a gun and fired shots, striking them, Gaines said.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
