Jewel-Osco deals for the week of May 19

Oscar Meyer Co.CookingLifestyle and LeisureHuman Interest

Here are the top deals to be found at Chicago Jewel-Osco grocery stores for the week of May 19, with coupon matchups. I don't list every item from the Wednesday grocery ad, only those that are close to their low prices or those that have a good coupon available. My favorite deal this week is free Garden Delights pasta with the coupon from the 5/15 SmartSource insert. Other good prices include $1.99/pound asparagus and $1.99/pound butter, and Kraft Miracle Whip for $1 after coupon.

Before you go to Jewel this week, check your mailbox for the mailer shown in the photo. It contains two $3/$30 coupons, $2 off any produce purchase, and a bunch of handy manufacturer's coupons. You can also print a $2/$25 coupon here.

OTHER SPECIAL OFFERS

  • Get a free 8.9 oz. bag Cape Code chips (up to $2.50) with purchase of Budweiser 24-pack with in-store coupon (Remember that Jewel's coupon policy does not require you to buy the beer with these coupons, but if the coupon is stuck to the beer, the store frowns upon peeling it off without buying the beer.)

  • Buy 10 oz. Fresh Express salad blend clamshell, get a free six-pack 24 oz. bottles Aquafina.

  • Buy four boxes Fiber One or Nature Valley bars @ $2.99, get free water, any brand, up to $4.50 (use $1/2 Nature Valley in the General MillsSpring Savings booklet, found at Ultra; $1/2 NV in the 3/27 , expires 5/21; $.50/2 NV in the 5/1 SmartSource, or print $.50/1 NV here. For the Fiber One bars, there's $1/2 in the 5/1 SmartSource. So if you buy four boxes with two $1/2 coupons, you're paying $10 for the bars and water. You could also combine this with any water coupon to bring the total down farther.)

STORE COUPONS IN THE AD

  • FREE Jewel Bake Shop 16 oz. sandwich bread when you buy 1 lb. Di Lusso deli meat or cheese, expires 6/1. (Print two coupons for $2 off a half pound Di Lusso meat or cheese, and this coupon for free Di Lusso mustard up to $2.99 when you buy a pound of meat or cheese (no longer available). I'm not sure if this will work to get the free bread if you ring up two half pounds instead of a full pound, but maybe if your staff is coupon-friendly they will help make it work.)

  • FREE Ocean Spray sparkling juice 4-pack when you buy 2 Ocean Spray juice cocktail or grapefruit juice 64 oz., expires 5/25

MANUFACTURER'S COUPON IN THE AD

FREE Snuggle Liquid Fabric Softener 32 oz. or Dryer Sheets when you buy 1 All Liquid Laundry Detergent 32-50 oz., expires 5/25. (You should be able to use this along with an All coupon, like the $1/1 in the 4/10 RedPlum -- but this expires 5/22. Or there's $1.50/1 for the Oxi-Active variety in the same insert, also expiring 5/22.

SUNDAY AD UPDATE -- new manufacturer's coupons in the Sunday ad:

  • $3 off Jim Beam 750 mL or larger, exipres 5/25
  • Buy a 24-pack Miller Lite for $12.99, get Oscar Meyer meat or turkey hot dogs, Rosen's buns and a 2L of 7-Up all for a penny. If your Jewel is aware that the store coupon policy does not require liquor purchases on such coupons, this is a great deal. UPDATE: I tried this at a Jewel today and was unsuccessful. I spoke with a manager who was informed about the policy and had been helpful in the past with using such coupons without alcohol purchase, but she said they got a memo that this coupon was not covered by the policy because it was not supplied by the vendor. I'm contact corporate about this and will let you know what I find out.
