Chicago Shopping is here to take the guesswork out of selecting certain items for you by laying out all of the details to help you decide which item is the better buy.
Making a stop at a coffeehouse every morning can really leave a dent in your pocket. A good way to save some time and money in the a.m. is to invest in a single-serve coffee brewer. They're convenient and economical, and you are guaranteed a fresh cup of coffee every time.
The caveat to these single-serve brewers is that they can run on the pricey side. The upside to this, however, is that you will make your money back within a month or two from not going out for your morning brew each and every day.
We did some perusing and found two great single-serve coffee brewers: the Keurig Elite Brewing System for $119.95 and the Hamilton Beach Scoop Single Serve Brewer for $62.99. So, which one to buy?
Here are the stats:
- K-Cup coffee only
- Brews 8 to 10 oz. cups at a time
- 48 oz. water reservoir
- Brews in under a minute
- Brews hot and cold beverages
- Reusable coffee filter
- Brews up to 14 oz. cups at a time
- Stainless steel
- Use of any coffee grounds
So, should you splurge or save?
Save. If you are looking for something that will make your coffee quick and easy in the morning, the Hamilton Beach brewer is the best buy. It will save you money not only because it is about $57 cheaper than the Keurig, but it will save you a ton of money on the coffee grinds alone. The Hamilton Beach brewer allows you to use whatever type of coffee you want with the reusable filter, unlike the Keurig that is only compatible with K-Cups, which can add up.
