A desert Plant for Pappy Hour

A Zeppelin landed in the High Desert. The enclave of Pioneertown got a visit Saturday night from Robert Plant, who showed up at Pappy & Harriet's to hear rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson perform. The singer was so smitten with the Pioneertown honky-tonk he turned up the next day for Pappy Hour, the Yucca Valley bar's Sunday jam session, and he even performed a half-dozen songs. Along for the fun was desert songstress Victoria Williams.

Dress code: gold medal optional On Tuesday, it was attack of the killer parties. The Flying Tomato, a.k.a. gold medal-winning snowboarder boy Shaun White, threw himself a post-Olympics bash at LAX nightclub. The athlete with the big air and hair was joined by DJ AM, the club's co-owner, along with Sasha Cohen, Pamela Anderson, Travis Barker, Volcom owner Richard Wolcott and Tony Hawk, who rocked out to pro skater and DJ Todd Congelliere's punk-rock set....Meanwhile over at Vine and Sunset, the Alliance hosted its fifth annual Oscar week "Ten" fashion party in a custom-made pavilion. Lindsay Lohan opened the fashion show and was joined onstage by such celebrities as Jeremy Piven, Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Eva Longoria and Mischa Barton. Then John Legend performed.... And over at the Chateau Marmont, a passel of A-listers joined photographer Patrick McMullan to celebrate the release of his fifth book, "Kiss Kiss," a photo essay of stars puckering up.

Good location, and good luck

Sunday night at Casey's Bar & Grill downtown, owners are throwing a pep rally for George Clooney's "Good Night, and Good Luck," the Oscar-nominated film that was shot in part at the L.A. bar.... Bolthouse Productions is teaming up with Hollywood heavies Patrick Whitesell, Rick Yorn and Mike Deluca for their annual post-Oscar party in the Hollywood Hills, which always culminates with a fine feast of omelettes and waffles.... Christina Aguilera got jiggy with the burlesque babes of Forty Deuce, where she and photog Ellen Von Unwerth holed up Friday to snap pix for her upcoming album cover.... Marc Ford of the Black Crowes joined singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham at the Mint's Sin City Social Club on Friday.... Speaking of: The Sin City All-Stars are opening for Dwight Yoakam on Friday night at the Wiltern LG.... At Cozy's in Sherman Oaks on Saturday, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and crooner Dave Alvin showed up to see Tucson's alt-country soulmen, the Hacienda Brothers.... Funnyman Bill Murray went south on Sunday to soak up a Lucinda Williams show at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach.... Beauty Bar opens its Austin, Texas, location on March 23.... Get ready to rumble at Club 1990, which makes its debut March 10 at the Larchmont on Melrose. Think, Beasties, Bjork and Nirvana. Whatever, nevermind.
