If the Cube were available in the USA, would you want one?

'd strongly consider trading my Nissan Frontier (4cyl/5spd) for one of these for commuting and squirting around town. I'd be happy to drive the existing version with the 1.4l motor as long as I could get it with a stick.
I've driven some epic-ly slow cars in the past ('73 Pinto, '70 VW Beetle) and the potential performance of the Cube doesn't bother me in the least. There's more to driving fun than straight-line acceleration.
2. Totally agree! I love boxy cars, plenty of space for weekends. I need AWD because of a couple of icy hills at the cottage. That fits perfectly. like the Fit. Except for AWD. I love diesels, but this one is cleaner, and I don't really need it. And it's so cheap too! Really great and efficient! Way to go Nissan.
3. You GO, Dan! Yes, I agree that cars are going to look a lot like the Cube. In fact they did 50 years ago. My mom had a 1957 English Ford Escort Wagon - like this one: http://www.racingjunk.com/post/1062706/1957-ENGLISH-FORD-ESCORT.html?imageIndex=0&showSuperSize=true Box? You bet! Mileage? >30mpg. Boss? Well, bossness is all in the eyes of the viewer. Keep focusing on the future, and realize that were were already back to that future at least once. Mike
4. I have a 2006 xb and hated the look of the new model. This is a nice replacement and I look forward to buying it in the near future. Also, no one stole from the honda element. The cube has been in foreign markets for about 10 years now.
5. I prefer the VW Touran. Its better looking and fast and get similar milage with a small diesel.
6. When they make a rock hopper that can pull a boat and get 50MPH I will get excited.
7. I drive a 2003 Toyota Matrix. it seats 5, has lots of storage space, looks great and gets 32 to 38 mpg. This is the last year of the Matrix (in it's current form) and the new one is smaller and more expensive. Just like with the Scion, why can't they leave good enough alone?
8. As always, great writing, great insight. Until/unless I'm assured of personal crash/safety factor equal to gas guzzler, will stick with being enveloped by safety mass & pay fuel freight. Motto: *Tush, not just FIRST, but, UEBER ALLES*.
