Nick Richards takes loss on house once owned by Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee

Nick Richards, who gain famed as frontman for the ’80s New Wave band Boys Don’t Cry, has sold a Malibu property for $2.2 million – 23% less than he originally paid.

The home was built in 1991 for actress Pam Anderson and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, who likely fared better financially on this property than Richards did. They sold in 2004 for $2.475 million.

In what resembles a Hollywood story line, the house later went into rehab – or at least it became a rehab house.

Singer-songwriter-producer Richards paid $2.85 million for the house in 2008. He sold at a loss of $650,000. That amount was the median price of a single-family house in Glendora or San Pedro last year, according to statistics from CoreLogic DataQuick.

The Mediterranean-style villa was described in listing details as in need of renovation and appeared to be a work in progress in many of the accompanying photographs.

Encompassing more than 2.5 acres, the estate once boasted pristine amenities including Japanese gardens, a koi pond, a lagoon pool, a spa, waterfalls and a gated motor court.

The 7,462 square feet of living space on two stories is configured with dining, family and living rooms, a dance studio, a den, an office, six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Boys Don’t Cry is known for its 1980s anthem “I Wanna Be a Cowboy,” which was used in the Bruce Willis-Daman Wayans film “The Last Boy Scout” (1991). The current incarnation of the band last year released the album “Hear It Is!” on Richards’ Microrich label.
