An alt-rock garden in West L.A.
We know what likely will be in Beck’s moving boxes: two turntables and a microphone, of course. Yes, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter-guitarist has bought yet another house in Los Angeles.
During his days as a bachelor, the pop star bought and sold a number of homes on the Westside. Now Beck, 37, and his wife, actress Marissa Ribisi, 32, have purchased another on the same side of town.
They paid $7 million for the 1924 house, which had been redesigned and updated just before it was purchased. Beck then redesigned the redesign.
He and his family have yet to occupy the house, which has eight bedrooms and five bathrooms in 5,700 square feet.
Beck, a.k.a. Beck Hansen, has won Grammys for his albums “Odelay,” “Mutations” and “Where It’s At.” His song “Nausea” was nominated last year in the category of solo rock vocal performance. His latest single, “Timebomb,” was released this summer.
At age 13, his mother, Bibbe, had a lead role in Andy Warhol’s film “Prison.” His father, David Campbell, was a string arranger and bluegrass street musician.
Ribisi has appeared on TV shows and in the films “True Crime” and “Pleasantville.” She is half the team behind the Whitley Kros label, which debuted a collection of women’s clothing last month.

Off the ice and craving the water
For Luc Robitaille, the decision to sell his Holmby Hills home to buy a residence closer to the beach in Santa Monica was put to a family vote. The Canadian-born hockey star, now 42 and president of the L.A. Kings business operations, and his singer-songwriter wife, Stacia, listed their home at close to $4 million. Then, with the approval of their sons Jesse, 13, and Steven, 21, they started house hunting.
They wound up buying in Santa Monica before selling in Holmby Hills. They couldn’t resist the newer and bigger home, priced at slightly more than $4.6 million. From the house, they can almost hear the ocean.
But they will no doubt miss some things about the Holmby home, including the sports court that doubles as a roller hockey rink and the master bedroom with a fireplace and two walk-in closets. The five-bedroom home, on a tree-lined street, also has a pool and a guesthouse.
Both properties are conveniently located for all of their work. Yes, they all work.
Stacia Robitaille created her own record company, Raystone Records, and is chief executive of two charities.
Steven, Stacia’s son from a previous marriage and grandson of actor Steve McQueen, is also an actor. He appears in the upcoming Disney Channel movie “Minutemen.”
And Jesse, a singer-songwriter, was onstage recently in his first live concert.

That much closer to Broadway
Actor Malcolm Gets is spending more time working in New York these days, and so he plans to sell his house in Los Feliz and buy a bigger piece of the Big Apple, where he already owns property.
The home in Los Feliz is priced at close to $1.1 million. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,725 square feet.
The one-story, Spanish-style house is within walking distance of Los Feliz village. Picture windows, beamed ceilings and wood floors infuse the interiors with character.
Gets, 42, was recently cast in the new musical “Writing Arthur” and in the film “Gray Gardens,” to be shot in Canada.
He was a Tony Award nominee for “Amour” and starred in off-Broadway’s “A New Brain” and TV’s “Caroline in the City.” He appeared in September in a one-night production in Beverly Hills of William Finn and James Lapine’s “Falsettos.”

Time to pack up the home office
Michael Schur, Emmy-winning co-executive producer and writer on NBC’s “The Office,” and his wife, J.J. Philbin, co-executive producer and writer on NBC’s “Heroes,” have put their Miracle Mile home on the market at $1.65 million.
The Spanish Revival house, built in 1929, has four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,600 square feet. There are archways and hardwood floors. It is within walking distance of the Grove shopping center.
Schur, 32, has won two Emmy awards, one for “The Office” and one for “Saturday Night Live.” Philbin, 32, is the daughter of TV personalities Regis and Joy Philbin.
Schur and Philbin recently purchased another home in the area.
