In Malibu, walls of glass and a showbiz pedigree

JAMES WOODS’ character in the CBS drama “Shark” exudes the brash self-confidence of a man who earned oodles of money during his years as a defense lawyer before he switched sides to bring his cutthroat tactics to the prosecutor’s office as the head of the Los Angeles district attorney’s high-profile crime unit.

And what did the show’s producers use to symbolize just how successful he was as a defense attorney? His house, of course -- which is this house.

Used as character Sebastian Stark’s home -- supposedly purchased during those flush years when he reigned supreme representing the wealthy if unworthy -- the show’s viewers are treated weekly to scenes shot here. The show is in its second season.

The home, located on a small cul-de-sac off Las Flores Canyon Road in Malibu, was built in 2001. It features sweeping mountain and canyon views through vast walls of glass.

Westside Estates agent Amy Alcini says the house is one of the most sought-after filming and still-photography locations in Malibu, which could be good news for prospective buyers: Who wouldn’t mind the optional extra income? And dual entrances afford the homeowner some privacy when film crews set up shop.

About this house: Built with wood imported from Indonesia, this tri-level retreat features a 100-inch, drop-down movie screen and radiant floor heating.

The architectural-award-winning home has a gourmet kitchen with custom smoked-glass-front cabinetry, granite countertops and center aisle. High ceilings add to the sense of spaciousness in the open floor plan.

Asking price: $2,195,000

Size: This three-bedroom, 2 1/2 -bathroom home of 2,200 square feet sits on almost an acre of land. The top floor has two very small rooms, which can be used as bedrooms, off a central playroom.

Features: Glass, glass and more glass reveal almost 360-degree views. High ceilings and open spaces create a sense of airiness. An outdoor kitchen with built-in grill, a curved, stucco-bench seating alcove and a fire pit make this an entertainer’s home.
