Hot Property: Mossimo Giannulli lists Laguna Beach house for $12,995,000

Hot Property

Mossimo Giannulli – yeah, the Target sportswear designer – has listed his Laguna Beach house for sale at $12,995,000. Who knew that making comfortable, affordable clothes could make you rich? Well, actually, I did; I just didn’t think anyone was listening to me.

Giannulli (looking in my closet, I feel like I know this man; may I just call him Mossimo?) and his wife, actress Lori Loughlin, are selling a three-bedroom, two-bathroom contemporary Craftsman just two houses from the sand in the gated Emerald Bay enclave. The 2,000-square-foot beach house has custom-designed metal windows and doors and extensive use of marble. The millwork – wood paneling, ceilings and furniture-grade cabinetry – is all master-carpenter crafted. It’s also one of those “smart technology” houses that require a teenager to operate the lights, audio and visual systems. The rear courtyard is designed for alfresco dining and entertaining. Emerald Bay, with its exclusive beachfront homes, is regarded as Orange County’s Malibu Colony. The one-level property is a second home.

Mossimo and Loughlin live full time in the Brentwood-Pacific Palisades area near the Riviera Country Club’s golf course.

Mossimo, while still in his 20s, began his company working from his family’s garage with a loan from his father. After just eight years, Mossimo Inc. was a multimillion-dollar sportswear and accessories company, and Mossimo was reported to be the youngest chief executive ever of a New York Stock Exchange company, according to Target Corp. And here I pegged him as a genius just based on those seriously wonderful capri pants from two summers ago.

Loughlin played Becky in the sitcom “Full House.” She was also in “Summerland” in 2004 and was on the TV soap “The Edge of Night” from 1980 to 1983.

Harold Noriega and David Cooper of In the Bay Realty, Laguna Beach, have the listing.
