There wasn't much on the comment board that won't be addressed in the paper. For issues such as the no-huddle offense and the defense's continued struggles, we will have those stories elsewhere on the site.
For issues such as the firing of Lovie Smith and Ron Turner, you'll just have to wait until the off-season for any news on that front. I wouldn't hold my breath for either, though.
But I will address that which was posted by kpbears after one of the offensive line's many penalties (possibly Terrence Metcalf's personal foul for kneeing one of the Giants' defenders): "Dumb, stupid penalties. Be smart!"
So what's the deal with all these penalties. Is there a reason for these or do they just come individually?
Left guard Terrence Metcalf:"For me it was just a dumb penalty that I got. It was just something that you know you're not supposed to do. It wasn't the crowd, it wasn't anybody else, it was just something I took upon myself to do in the heat of the moment. You do a little extra something when you pancake someone or something like that. It's just a focus level."
Offensive coordinator Ron Turner: "Obviously we don't want that and I'm not sure why. The difference is we have a few more of 'em. I'm not sure what the reasons would be why."
Offensive line coach Harry Hiestand: "The guys are giving us great effort. Sometimes you get out early. That's not an excuse. Guys make mistakes. You ever make a mistake?"
And since it's a short one as promised, here's the last issue: Around 3:55 p.m. CDT on Sunday, our board deflated completely when Devin Hester dropped a mostly-certain 81-yard touchdown pass. Did that drop, as on Monday, deflate the Bears more than a drop by another player might have?
Turner:We know he's gonna have some great plays and he's human. Like anybody else, he's gonna make some mistakes just like everybody else out there. It is surprising because he is a great player and we anticipate him making great plays. But like I said, we have a lot of other guys making some plays and then not making some.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
