Ever wonder what happened to that hot-shooting guard after he left high school? Curious to see whatever happened to that Division I standout from your rival high school who got drafted by the NFL in the late rounds?
Now, thanks to ChicagoSports.com and SportsTicker, you can check in on all of your favorite former Illinois high school stars through the rich and unique Hometown Reports.
During each season, we will update the statistics of every former state athlete now competing in NCAA football and men's basketball, Major League Baseball, the National Football League, and the National Basketball Association. The various reports will be updated weekly when the sport is in season, and even when it?s the offseason you can still see who did what and where.
Keep track of Chicago high school stars such as Corey Maggette and Kevin Garnett in the NBA report. Check out Homewood-Flossmoor's T.J. Cummings of UCLA or Andre Brown of DePaul and Leo High School. Loyola's David Bailey and Marquette's Cordell Henry; they're local kids too.
Remember our old baseball stars? We have the MLB Report to track Cubs catcher Joe Girardi and Oakland pitcher Mark Mulder, both Illinois high school products. See how former Mt. Carmel star and current Philadelphia Eagle QB Donovan McNabb is doing in the NFL report. Anyone remember Corey Paus? Monitor the former Lincoln-Way star and current UCLA quarterback.
When browsing through our extensive database of former Illinois prep athletes, we bet you?ll find a lot of surprises. You may find athletes you never knew had played high school sports here. That's the fun of it all. We're looking into adding minor league baseball and NCAA women's basketball in the future, too.
And if you see that we've let someone slip under our radar, use the e-mail form on the right to drop us a line. We will add it to our list. Remember: the athlete needs to have competed on the high school level in Illinois to make any of our lists.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
