Longtime Chicago sports media executive Phil Bedella was promoted to vice president/general manager at Comcast SportsNet, the network announced Monday. A seven-year veteran at the television home of the Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, Bedella has been assistant general manager since 2008. Beginning Oct. 1, he will take charge of day-to-day operations, and will report to network president Jim Corno. Bedella joined Comcast SportsNet at its inception in 2004 as vice president/general sales manager, a role he previously served at the now-defunct Fox Sports Net Chicago.
