Kevin Newell has been promoted to executive vice president and Global Chief Brand Officer for McDonald's. Starting Feb. 1, he will oversee marketing, menu innovation, consumer insights and other global brand assets and provide input on social responsibility and restaurant architecture. Newell, 53, initially joined McDonald's in 1989, most recently serving as senior vice president and Restaurant Support Officer for McDonald's USA West Division. He came to McDonald's from Burrell Advertising and Leo Burnett, USA, where clients included Keebler and Green Giant. He left McDonald's briefly in 2004 to become vice president and general sales manager for the Midwest region at Black Entertainment Television Co.
