Polek received a bachelor's degree from Loyola University, Los Angeles, a master's in microbiology from <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="OREDU0000463" title="California State University, Long Beach" href="/topic/education/colleges-universities/california-state-university-long-beach-OREDU0000463.topic">California State University, Long Beach</a>, and medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He spent his residency at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, and Loyola University Medical Center, where he also completed fellowships in cardiovascular anesthesia and neuroanesthesia.

Polek received a bachelor's degree from Loyola University, Los Angeles, a master's in microbiology from California State University, Long Beach, and medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He spent his residency at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, and Loyola University Medical Center, where he also completed fellowships in cardiovascular anesthesia and neuroanesthesia.
