Dr. Wayne V. Polek has been inaugurated as president of the Illinois State Medical Society. The board-certified anesthesiologist affiliated with Kane Anesthesia Associates in Geneva has been active in the society since 1989, most recently serving as president-elect. Polek received a bachelor's degree from Loyola University, Los Angeles, a master's in microbiology from California State University, Long Beach, and medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He spent his residency at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago, and Loyola University Medical Center, where he also completed fellowships in cardiovascular anesthesia and neuroanesthesia.
