Daniel Won has joined the Merit School of Music as the Alice S. Pfaelzer Tuition-free Conservatory Director. He will lead the school's conservatory, working with the dean of programs, faculty, parents and students to ensure clear communication and support for the audition-based, college-preparatory program. Won previously served as facilities manager for DePaul University's School of Music. As an educator, he has taught private clarinet lessons for more than 15 years and is currently a mentor for Chicago Sinfonietta's Project Inclusion program, a fellowship program that provides scholarships, career planning and performance opportunities to young minority musicians. Won is a member of the Chicago Sinfonietta and Music of the Baroque orchestra, and has previously performed with Chicago Symphony's MusicNOW ensemble, the Chicago Chamber Musicians, the Alabama Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He received both his Master's degree and certificate in performance from DePaul University.
