Meredith Matthews, 37, has joined AbelsonTaylor as a medical proofreader. She will be proofreading and copyediting ads, digital media and other promotional materials developed for the agency's wide range of clients. Matthews joins AbelsonTaylor from the American Medical Association in Chicago, where she was media relations officer, developing press releases and media materials for the organization's nine specialty journals. She also worked with, and served as liaison to, authors and their institutions' public relations departments, editors, reporters and public information officers. Before this, she was senior editor for Weekly Reader, a White Plains, N.Y.-based publishing company (later acquired by Scholastic). During her tenure there, she oversaw all editorial content for Current Health Teens, a health magazine for secondary school health and physical education teachers. Previously she was associate editor for MyHometownBronxville.com, Bronxville, NY, providing news, feature articles and photos for a weekly online community newspaper. Matthews started her publishing healthcare career at Medicom International, publisher of Managed Care Interface, Long-Term Care Interface and Product Management Today, where she managed editorial and production, and supervised junior editors. Matthews holds two Bachelor's degrees from Brown University.
