New England SeafoodCo. Fish Market

Here's a fishmonger that's doubles as a BYOB restaurant, and its crispy haddock sandwich is worthy of silverware. Similar to cod, the haddock here bears an almost creamy texture, fried with a batter, which, any lighter, would be classified under tempura (it uses flour, lemon, Old Bay seasoning and milk). Imagine your standard grab-and-go fish sandwich; this one, at 11 ounces, is nearly twice as big. The house-fried potato chips are wafer thin and crackle loudly. $8.95; 3341 N. Lincoln Ave., 773-871-3474 Kevin Pang/Chicago Tribune
