About our club
We are the Field Girls' Book and Social Club. The club started six years ago when we were all Marshall Field's employees. We have 15 members, but we have about eight members at each meeting. We meet at a member's home once every other month. We share good food, wine and conversation as well as take turns selecting our books. We have a no-pressure policy, and if someone didn't have a chance to read the selection, then they can have more time.
When we can't decide what to read
We all select our own book, and then from that group, we may select a book for the next meeting after a personal recommendation from one of our members.
Books we liked
"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen, "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett, "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson, "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford and "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana de Rosnay. We also love books by Nora Roberts, David Baldacci and James Patterson.
A book that brought back mixed reviews
"The Postmistress" by Sarah Blake. Some members loved it and others couldn't even finish it.
We are currently working our way through "The Hunger Games" trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
