The Notre Dame men’s basketball team will get a taste of Chicago this fall.
DePaul, UIC and Chicago State are among the teams traveling to Purcell Pavilion as part of the Irish’s non-conference schedule, which was announced Tuesday.
Notre Dame opens the regular season Nov. 6 against UIC. The Flames are one of the opponents in the previously announced Gotham Classic. It will be the first meeting between the teams.
The Irish play Chicago State (Nov. 8) for the third consecutive season. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 5-0.
The Blue Demons travel to Notre Dame on Nov. 24. The teams met in last year’s season opener, which was also the first regular-season game at Wintrust Arena. The Irish won 72-58. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 61-44.
Some of the previously announced headline non-conference opponents are Illinois (home on Nov. 27 for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge), vs. Oklahoma (Dec. 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York for the Jimmy V Classic), at UCLA (Dec. 8) and vs. Purdue (Dec. 15 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis in the Crossroads Classic).
The complete schedule will be announced at a later date.
As for the ACC season, the Irish will have home-and-home games against Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Georgia Tech. Notre Dame plays Duke, Syracuse, Clemson, NC State and Wake Forest at home. The Irish have road games against North Carolina, Louisville, Florida State, Miami and Pittsburgh.
