The Parkways Foundation hosted its fifth annual GALApalooza, which was the official preview party for Lollapalooza. Guests relaxed on white leather lounges around the Petrillo Music Shell to listen to rock entertainment. For the first time, three Lollapalooza artists were featured: Elizaveta, Walk the Moon, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Dinner was provided by some of Chicago's hottest gourmet food trucks. Stacey Reineking Sather, GALApalooza corporate chairwoman and Parkways' board chairwoman, along with her host committee, raised more than $240,000 to benefit the Parkways Foundation's Send a Kid to Camp program, which will help to send 3,500 kids to camp while engaging 10,000 children and their families with the wonder of our parks.
The 25th annual Day on the Terrace was held recently at the Peninsula Hotel. This fashion show and luncheon was hosted by the Service Club of Chicago. Founded in 1890, it is one of the city's oldest charitable organizations. The event was another sellout this year, with guests enjoying a fashion extravaganza. Members of the Service Club, along with local celebrities, modeled fall fashions from — to name a few — Escada, Intermix and Neiman Marcus, which presented stunning gowns and furs for the event's finale. Event founder Hazel Barr created Day on the Terrace 25 years ago. Chairwoman Jean Antoniou, along with show producer Tracey Di Buono and Service Club members, planned the event, which raised more than $30,000 to fund the Service Club's grant program, which supports many worthy organizations in and around Chicago.
