Fashionable night gets extended run

Fashion's Night Out, a two-week shopping extravaganza leading up to the finale on Sept. 8, most likely pumped up business for local retailers big and small. More than 140 stores, restaurants and hotels participated and, for finale night, there were happenings all around town.

Saks Fifth Avenue spotlighted shoe designer Brian Atwood for the official unveiling of its new shoe salon, 10022-SHOE. He graciously signed his signature stilettos.

style guru Brad Goreski held court in the VIP Lounge at

The 900 Shops

while the

Shops at North Bridge

featured styling tips from Chicago Magazine fashion editor Stacey Jones.

Water Tower Place

hosted a night of trunk shows, informal modeling, mini makeovers and live entertainment, plus

"Real Housewives of New Jersey"

star Teresa Giudice.

During the two-week run, our town welcomed celebrity stylist Carson Kressley, Project Runway's Mondo Guerra and a slew of Bravo's "Real Housewives." Cubs catcher Geovany Soto and pitcher Kerry Wood and Bulls guard

made appearances, too.

There were shopping incentives, makeovers, fashion shows, cooking demos, entertainment and more.


Party for Parkways

The Parkways Foundation's annual garden party luncheon was in

Grant Park

with more than 500 women donning their favorite chapeaux to benefit the foundation's "Send a Kid to Camp" Fund. Co-chairs Carol Prins and April Schink helped raise more than $275,000 this year.
