Jerome Bettis Coin Toss Controversy 1998
1998: Lions 19, Steelers 16 (OT) This game is most remembered for the bizarre overtime coin toss where Steelers running back Jerome Bettis was heard yelling tails but the referee said Bettis called heads. The toss was subsequently won by the Lions who went on to score on a Jason Hanson field goal on their first overtime drive. The Steelers would not win a game for the rest of the season and finished with a record of 7-9.
