Race cars for regular people

Have you ever dreamed of putting on a helmet, suiting up and strapping yourself into a sleek Ferrari F430 GT? Did that fantasy involve whizzing around a professional course, approaching speeds of 200 kilometers an hour? Well, Dream Racing is here to turn those daydreams into reality.

Starting at $199 (for five laps in a Porsche 911 Carrera S), you can channel your inner Mario Andretti on a 1.1-mile nine-turn track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Fancier vehicles are also available and include the Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera and McLaren MP4-12C.

“Dream Racing is one of the few places in the world where people can drive these race cars on a track,” said Ado De Micheli, the president and co-founder of the 2-year-old company. “When we conceived the concept, we knew that Las Vegas, with all of its energy and excitement, would provide an ideal location for such an exhilarating but luxury adventure.”

This winter, Dream Racing is offering a promotion for the holiday season that will allow speed demons to drive five laps in the Ferrari 458 supercar and follow that with five laps in the Ferrari GT race car. This combination is offered at $799, instead of the regular price of $858.

“It’s the perfect way to understand the difference between one of the highest-performing street cars available in the market and a real race car,” De Micheli said.

And for the more advanced? De Micheli told the Vegas Guide that Dream Racing recently introduced a program called “The Club.” Aimed at the true driving enthusiast, membership starts at $400,000 and includes two years of racing and full ownership of a Ferrari F430 GT at the completion of the term.
