For nearly two decades, Simona Farrise has focused on obtaining justice for people with mesothelioma, recovering more than $100 million for her dying clients and their families.

“This firm is a leader in the field of asbestos exposure because of our work ethic and our dedication to helping people,” Farrise says. “We have a track record of achieving results at trial that is second to none.”

Farrise cites her background growing up in a working-class neighborhood in Chicago as the inspiration for her legal career. “This was a blue-collar community that had a great need for lawyers, and because of that, I’ve always wanted to be an attorney
who represents injured individuals against powerful corporations.”

After representing her first mesothelioma client in the early 1990s, Farrise found herself competing in a male-dominated field. “Female attorneys are rarely the go-to lawyers for high-stakes trials, so fighting for trial opportunities has required a certain tenacity that is unusual for women in any profession,” she notes.

At her firm, Farrise has tapped the expertise of female lawyers through open work arrangements. “Many women leave the law when they become parents or spouses, so we’ve incorporated technology into our workplace to allow for more flexibility,” she says. “As an advocate for professional inclusion, it’s important that women can remain in the law doing high-level legal work and not feel forced out.”

By leveraging a breadth of talent, Farrise has developed a  sought after practice among firms representing real people suffering catastrophic injury and wrongful death in complex litigation and asbestos injury and mesothelioma matters. Indeed, her firm has won significant mesothelioma cases against such companies as Union Carbide Corporation and Ford Motor Company. Farrise also secured a recent $5.55 million award in a landmark case involving a man dying of mesothelioma who was in a same-sex partnership.

In addition to representing plaintiffs with mesothelioma, Farrise has litigated complex product liability cases involving severe injuries and wrongful deaths. She has also championed worker groups and litigated class actions and civil rights cases involving sexual harassment and race and gender discrimination.

Farrise is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell and included in The Best Lawyers in America and, every year since 2004, in Super Lawyers. She was a finalist for the Consumer Attorneys of California’s (CAOC) Street Fighter of the Year Award and has been a CAOC Women’s Caucus trial advocate for years. Moreover, she has twice been nominated for the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles’ Trial Lawyer of the Year Award.
