Rain barrel

The Somerset Garden Club has been teaching the youth at the Somerset County Children's Aid Home this past summer about growing vegetables, soil testing, flower arranging, weed control, landscape techniques, composting and the benefits of harvesting rain water. Additional assistance has been provided by the Somerset Conservation District and CW Consulting and Handyman Services through the donation of a rain barrel as well as the Penn State Master Gardeners, who donated a composter. Bob McBride, a Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources service forester provided instruction to the youth on tree identification and other forestry issues. Pictured are Judy Rach, Arlene Blissell and Sheila Croushore, all of the Somerset Garden Club, and Tami Beggs, office manager for CW Consulting and Handyman Services. They are pictured with a rain barrel at the Somerset County Children's Aid Home.
