Barbecue and blues belong together, so I can see why folks at Festevents hired these two acts for this family festival held at Norfolk's Town Point Park. Music starts at 12:30 p.m. when Walters takes the stage. He'll be followed by Clark at 2:45 p.m. Julius Pittman and The Revival will cap the day's entertainment with sets at 5 and 6:45 p.m.
The eight-piece Michael Clark Band features the band leader's guitar work as well as the vocals of his wife, Tracy Clark.
"Although the band has been in existence since 1991, things changed dramatically when Tracy came on board in 1996," the band's website explains. "What started as a blues/rock guitar band evolved into an all-out R&B revue. Tracy's vocals, stage presence, and attitude coupled with one of the tightest rhythm sections in the area is guaranteed to move anyone. Add one of the funkiest horn sections on the East Coast and you have all the elements for a great musical experience."
Bobby "BlackHat" Walters is known for his songwriting, harmonica prowess and warm spirit. Early this year, he released "Blues on Cardboard," a collection of original tunes that touched on the economic struggles facing Americans in recent years.
Here's a press release about the one-day festival happening Saturday.
