Shirley Eanes, 62, of Virginia Beach, and Chadwick Deforest, 32, of Yorktown were arrested by Suffolk Police on May 14, 2008 on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony. According to police, the duo attempted to hire a third party to assault Deforest's ex-girlfriend — in a way that disfigured her and sent her to the hospital. Deforest also wanted the ex-girlfriend's truck vandalized. The third party contacted police, and a meeting was arranged in Suffolk with the suspects. During the meeting, Deforest made a down payment for assault, and both Eanes and Deforest were arrested. While awaiting trial, new charges were brought against DeForest in early August. He now faces a charge that he tried to arrange for someone to plant narcotics in his ex-girlfriend's truck so her testimony against him would appear unreliable. According to the police report, he propositioned a cellmate to plant narcotics in his ex-girlfriend's truck and then call police to turn her in.
