A food drive by
Gloucester Sheriff's Dep. Jake Forehand, who helped coordinate the event, said 175 county employees participated in the food drive. The canned and dry goods, several cleaning products and cash donations were given to the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula.
Forehand said a friendly competition to see which of the 18 county departments that participated could donate the most food was won by the Finance Department, followed by Human Resources and the Treasurer's Office. The competition was based on which department donated the most pounds of food per employee, Forehand said.
