Gloucester and Mathews counties have each earned an `A+' for government transparency, as awarded by the nonprofit organization Sunshine Review.
The Sunshine Review is dedicated to government transparency and released the winners of its 3rd annual Sunny Awards on Thursday. Gloucester and Mathews were among four counties, two cities and eight school districts in Virginia that garnered awards, which go to the most transparent government websites.
"The Sunny Awards recognizes governments that are doing an exemplary job at proactively disclosing information to taxpayers,” said Michael Barnhart, President of Sunshine Review. “We at Sunshine Review are proud to acknowledge those who are doing it right and setting a transparency standard that all governments can, and should, meet.”Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
