Andersen takes the seat on the seven-member board that was vacated upon the death of Jean Pugh. Andersen was appointed following a closed session in which the School Board interviewed four candidates for the position, said a Gloucester County Public School System spokeswoman.
Andersen's term begins on Dec. 10 and concludes Dec. 31, 2013. His first School Board meeting will be Dec. 11.
